The best red and white decorations and attire, most creative skits, and heartiest renditions of the ŷƬ’s fight song will decide winners of the “Paint the Town Red” competition.

A team of local celebrity judges will visit school campuses and businesses throughout the day on Wednesday and Thursday as part of the annual Homecoming contest. It will determine the best displays of Ragin’ Cajun spirit and pride in a range of categories.

June Picard, event chair for the business portion of the Paint the Town Red contest, said businesses will vie for bragging rights in three categories: exterior decorations, interior decorations and skits.

Plaques will be awarded for first place, and for runner-up, in each of the three categories.

Mandi Fuselier, event chair for the schools portion of the competition, said judges will determine winners in four categories: best exterior decorations, best interior decorations, best use of an academic-related theme, and most spirited.

Plaques will be awarded for first place in each of the four categories. All schools that participate will receive prizes, Fuselier said.

Businesses will be visited from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28. Schools will be visited from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29.
