Two students and a staff member at the Å·ÃÀÈý¼¶Æ¬ have been recognized for their campus involvement and leadership abilities by the Louisiana Association of College and Å·ÃÀÈý¼¶Æ¬ Student Personnel Administrators.
Isaiah Crawford, Brooke Davenport and Jorden Melton were each recognized during the association’s conference earlier this month in Baton Rouge.
LACUSPA provides support, resources and networking opportunities for higher education administrators who mentor and interact with students regularly. Members of the association, which was established in 1974, also include students.
Crawford, a junior from New Orleans majoring in kinesiology, received the association’s Student Leader of the Year Award. He was a Reginald F. Lewis Scholar for the Å·ÃÀÈý¼¶Æ¬ of Louisiana System program, is a Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns men’s basketball team member, and was a member of the 2023 Homecoming Court.
Davenport, a junior from Madisonville, La., majoring in secondary education, received the Silver Scholarship Award. She is a member of the Student Orientation Staff for the Å·ÃÀÈý¼¶Æ¬â€™s Office of Orientation, and serves as the College of Education & Human Development’s Student Government Association president.
Melton, who is from New Orleans, received the Rising Professional of the Year Award. He serves as an academic success coach for the Louisiana Educate Program. The program is in place to help academically accomplished, lower-income students remain in college. Melton is also pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership.
